In 1929 Atkinson and Houtermans used Einsteins theory of E=mc^2 with the measured masses of light and used it to predict that large amounts of energy would give off if two small nuclei were fused together. ![](//photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger2/7784/185477302225701/200/619896/fusion.png)

In 1939 Hans A. Bethe from Germany was the first to have theories on nuclear fusion. He had suggested the suns heat and light energy as well as the stars were created by the reaction of four hydrogen nuclei joining together and making a helium nucleus and releasing a lot of energy.

ittle About Hans A. Bethe:
He was the director of Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory and was in the most senior level in World War II Manhattan Project creating the first atomic weapons.
Bethe was most recognized for his theories on atomic properties and in 1967 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for his work on solar and stellar energy.
